Choose Vortex for a 500ml pitcher with internal channels designed to support milk rotation. Choose Ultra Sharp 2.0 for a sharp-spout pouring design in 350ml or 600ml. The first decision is whether you need a different steaming-focused design, a different capacity or a different pouring feel.
We design both models at Barista Swag. Here is how to choose by the stage of your coffee routine that needs attention.
Vortex and Ultra Sharp at a glance
Vortex: compare the interior and grip
Vortex has a 500ml capacity and internal channels designed to guide circular milk movement during steaming. Choose it when you want to focus on milk rotation. With-handle and no-handle versions let you choose your preferred grip.
You can steam and pour with Vortex; transferring the milk to a second pitcher is optional.

Ultra Sharp 2.0: compare capacity and pouring position
Ultra Sharp 2.0 comes in 350ml and 600ml capacities, with a sharp spout designed for focused milk placement. Choose it when capacity and pouring position are your main equipment decisions.

Choose for the stage that needs attention
If getting a steady milk roll is the difficulty
Start with Vortex if you want its channelled interior as you practise circulation. Check that the pitcher fits beneath your wand and that the steam tip can reach a useful position in your normal milk quantity.
If the milk is mostly large bubbles or stiff foam, revisit your technique with the milk-steaming mistakes guide. Correcting excess air and wand position is part of getting a useful roll, whichever pitcher you choose.
If the milk is ready but the pour is hard to control
Choose Ultra Sharp when you want a sharp-spout design and a smaller or larger capacity. Check whether you can approach the cup comfortably, bring the spout close to the surface and control the flow.
If you want a middle-capacity pouring-focused option, the EVO vs Vortex guide compares Vortex with EVO's curved-body design.
350ml, 500ml or 600ml is not a milk-fill instruction
Pitcher capacity describes the vessel, not a cold-milk dose. Leave room for expansion and circulation, and follow your machine’s pitcher and minimum-fill instructions. Capacity alone does not establish how many drinks to steam at once.
Choose Ultra Sharp 350ml when a compact pitcher fits your lower milk quantity and machine. Choose 600ml when you need more room. Vortex 500ml sits between those sizes, with its channelled interior as the defining feature.
Measure your starting milk separately from the cup’s advertised capacity. Use the milk pitcher size guide if capacity is still the unresolved question.
Vortex with a handle or without one?
Choose the handled Vortex for a traditional grip that keeps your hand separate from the body. Choose no handle if you prefer a direct body grip. Both have the same 500ml capacity and Vortex interior.
There is no need to change a grip you already find comfortable. Consider how you hold and tilt the pitcher during a normal drink.
One pitcher or separate tools for steaming and pouring?
You do not need two pitchers to begin. Choose one that fits your milk quantity, machine and grip, then learn how it behaves through both stages.
Add a separate pouring pitcher only if you prefer a different spout, capacity or grip after steaming. That adds a transfer step and another pitcher to clean.
For Ultra Sharp capacity flexibility, the Ultra Sharp pair builder allows two available size-and-finish choices. The separate 350ml and 600ml Ultra Sharp set combines those two sizes in the same finish.
A short checklist before choosing
- Identify the main problem: milk rotation, capacity, grip or pouring position.
- Measure your usual starting milk quantity and check steam-wand clearance.
- Compare Vortex's 500ml channelled design with Ultra Sharp's 350ml or 600ml sharp-spout design.
- Choose one practical setup first. Add another pitcher only for a clear need.
- Confirm the selected size, grip and configuration on the product page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pour latte art with Vortex?
Yes. Vortex can be used for steaming and pouring. Its internal channels are a steaming-focused feature, not a requirement to own a second pitcher.
Will Vortex fix the milk texture on any home machine?
Vortex supports milk rotation; it cannot increase your machine’s steam power. Both models depend on suitable milk preparation, wand position and pouring technique. Check your actual setup rather than assuming one pitcher works with every machine or fill.
Is the larger Ultra Sharp a replacement for Vortex?
Not on capacity alone. Ultra Sharp 600ml provides more nominal capacity, while Vortex 500ml has a channelled interior. Choose between those features according to the problem you want to address, not simply which vessel is larger.
Choose the feature you will actually use
Start with Vortex for its milk-rotation-focused interior, or compare Ultra Sharp 2.0 for sharp-spout pouring and capacity choice. Choose for your normal drink and the stage you want to improve.
