5 Key Tips From This Video

Use Dry Steam

Purge the steam wand until the steam gets as dry as possible. This will take longer on home espresso machines. Dry steam creates better microfoam.
Insert the wand tip just under the surface and listen for the "paper tearing" sound. Dry steam creates better microfoam.

Steam Tip Position

Submerge the steam tip about 2 cm into the milk, with about half of the tip below the surface. If the tip is too low, no air will be added!

Build a Fast Vortex

After the milk rises by 2–3 cm, submerge the steam tip fully and find the position that produces the fastest possible vortex. Tilt the pitcher if your machine is weak.

Stop at the Right Temperature

Turn off the steam when the pitcher is too hot to touch. This gives you the ideal texture and temperature. The ideal target temperature is around 60 degrees Celsius.

Tap and Swirl to Integrate

Tapping and swirling the steamed milk is crucial for creating the smooth, glossy microfoam needed for good latte art. It helps pop large bubbles and separate any air gaps created during the steaming process.
